Admission Requirements to Study in the USA
US is home to more than 4000 universities. Each university has its own evaluation criteria and these may differ from course to course. For you to be eligible to study in any SEVP accredited US university, you must have the following:
- Identification Documents: As an international student you must have your passport to apply at any abroad universities.
- Eligible minimum GPA required by the University: The minimum GPA accepted by few universities in the USA is 2.5 GPA. However, Higher ranked and competitive universities will have a higher GPA requirement.
- English language Proficiency: You can take english language tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or DUOLINGO to prove your english language skills. You should target a minimum band of 6 in IELTS, and no less than 5.5 in each band to apply at US Universities. Again, This requirement varies from university to university.
- Aptitude test Scores: To maximize your chances of acceptance at competitive universities and scholarship, you should attempt SAT/ACT exams for your undergraduate degree and GMAT/GRE for graduate degrees. Other doctorate programs such as
Medicine, Law, Dentistry will require you to take other exams such as MCAT and LSAT. - Proof of Financial Funding: You are required to submit funding equivalent of at least 9 months of cost of attendance at your
university.
